Winter Drumline Practice is upon us!

We are practicing for the 2010 FHS Drumline every WEDNESDAY. We'll be meeting in the FHS band room from 6pm - 8pm. Practices will continue every Wednesday on that schedule unless otherwise posted here.

You'll need drumsticks and/or mallets and preferrably a good practice pad. Out of the gate, we'll be working the following fundamental exercises:

Hand to Foot Timing
Doubles n Threes

4-3-2

Singles Gone Wild

As a general rule, I do not hand out music at practice very often. Accordingly, you need to print these exercises and bring a copy with you to rehearsal. It might be a good idea to start a binder with sheet protectors to keep your music in thru-out the season.

Exciting News!!!

2010 Drumline Kick-Off Meeting: with a fantastic turn-out of both students and parents to our first pre-season kick-off meeting ever, the parents overwhelmingly supported my budget proposal for the 2010 season - which means that we WILL finally be getting all new field drums (snares, tenors and basses!) for the 2010 season!! Drumline Kids - you need to thank your parents for so strongly supporting the activity you love!!

If you missed the kick-off meeting, here is the information packet

Congratulations on both an overall Superior band rating and straight 'I+' in all percussion captions at State!!
This was a great season for FHS Drumline and the entire band! In my opinion, the FHS Drumline
dominated EVERY competition we attended and I am extremely proud to be associated with
such a fine group of young men and women performers and musicians.

Can hardly wait to see what we can do next year!!
FHS Drumline takes Best Percussion at Marion Local!
Congratulations guys! You performed your best show of the season and this was
a well-deserved victory! It was great to see all sections doing the things
we worked on and completely dominating the field!
You make me proud!!

Congratulations on taking the Outstanding Percussion award at Tipp City!

Get the FMS clinic handouts HERE
Even if you were unable to attend the FMS clinics from some reason, I strongly encourage
you to visit the clinic materials link above, download the material there, and practice it.
You will still be missing out on a lot of critical information, but at least you won't be
completely in the dark!
Note: The link is password protected - so you'll need to reference
the clinic hand-out you received at school for the username and password.

Want to be in the FHS Drumline???

Check out the BASICS page for a couple of drumming & keyboard technique videos.

Food for Thought...

Thoughts on Character:
-Your character is evident by what you do and say when no one (as far as you know) is looking or listening.

-Character matters. Strive to improve it.
